I add most value to team going through period of change. That could be an early stage company looking to push for your next phase of growth, or it could be a team within an established company that needs to pivot to deliver against changing customer requirements. I form relationships fast and pride myself on focusing on the root causes of problems or opportunities.

I am all about execution. Nothing excites me more than bringing a vision to reality. There's a range of technical skills that I can call on to deliver that - business model, operating model, governance, portfolio structure and benefits realisation, team leadership, market analysis, investment decision making... - but really at its heart these are all just tools in the tool box to help teams delivery against strategy. Focus

My work spans early stage companies, transformation, investment decisions, portfolio structure, governance, and leading projects and programmes.

Early-stage companies:

  • working with founding teams to shape development plans aligned with capital raises
  • ruthless prioritisation of effort to focus on the core elements of value creation
  • operate across the spectrum from strategic to sleeves-rolled-up solving day-to-day problems.

Transformation

  • getting to an agreed perspective on problems or opportunities
  • developing a comprehensive plan for delivery
  • forming and leading the delivery team, including focusing on benefits realisation.

Investment decisions

  • identifying problem/opportunity statements;
  • developing business cases;
  • conducting market and investment analysis; and
  • making investment and capital allocation decisions.

Portfolio structure and governance:

  • selecting the right initiatives;
  • executing well, including ensuring a laser focus on benefits, not just outputs;
  • overseeing and managing risk; and
  • knowing when to stop/pivot.

Leading individual projects and programmes, especially operating model and transformation ones across:

  • People
  • Process
  • Technology
  • Governance
  • Data, and
  • Service Delivery Model

And taking people on the journey with communications, transparency (when appropriate), and an approachable leadership style.

Fractional executive

I am happy to work with either an hourly rate or a retainer but my experience is that a combination of both is best: a retainer for an agreed set of hours with the ability to surge via an hourly rate for key pieces of work
